Levite during Hezekiah's temple cleansing

Who is Zechariah in the Bible?

Zechariah was a Levite of the sons of Asaph who served during the reign of King Hezekiah of Judah (2 Chronicles 29:13). He was among the Levites called to assist in the restoration and cleansing of the temple after years of neglect under previous kings. Zechariah and his fellow Levites removed unclean things from the inner temple and sanctified both the temple and its altar, preparing the sacred space for the renewal of worship and service to the Lord. His participation in this religious reform demonstrates the crucial role that the Levitical priesthood played in restoring Israel's spiritual life during times of national renewal.
