Zichri זִכְרִי
Son of Izhar, a Levite
Who is Zichri in the Bible?
Zichri was a son of Izhar and grandson of Kohath, belonging to the prominent Levitical family of the Kohathites (Exodus 6:21). As a member of this distinguished lineage, he was part of the tribe of Levi, which held special religious responsibilities in ancient Israel. The Kohathites, the family line to which Zichri belonged, were entrusted with the sacred duty of carrying the most holy items of the tabernacle during the Israelites' wilderness wanderings. Though Zichri himself is not described performing any specific actions in Scripture, his significance lies in his place within the genealogy of Israel's priestly tribe, representing the continuation of Levitical service and the sacred trust placed upon his family line.
