Zuar צוּעָר
Father of Nethanel, leader of Issachar
Who is Zuar in the Bible?
Zuar was the father of Nethanel, a tribal leader of Issachar during Israel's wilderness wanderings. Though Zuar himself is not extensively featured in scripture, he is identified as the father of Nethanel, who was selected as the official leader of the tribe of Issachar during the census recorded in Numbers 1:8 and 2:5. Nethanel represented the tribe at the dedication of the tabernacle, presenting offerings on behalf of Issachar (Numbers 7:18, 23), and led the tribe in the order of march through the wilderness (Numbers 10:15). Zuar's significance lies primarily in his connection to his son's role in organizing and leading one of Israel's twelve tribes during this foundational period of the nation's formation.
