Where is Athach in the Bible?
Athach was a town located in the territory of Judah in ancient Israel. It appears in the Bible as a recipient of spoils from David's victory over the Amalekites at Ziklag, when David distributed the captured goods among the towns of Judah as tokens of goodwill and alliance. Scholars have tentatively identified Athach with Ether, a town listed among Judah's settlements in the book of Joshua. While little else is recorded about this town, its mention in connection with David's military campaigns highlights the network of settlements that supported the future king during his rise to power in Judah.
