Where is Beth-tappuah in the Bible?

Beth-tappuah was a town in the hill country of Judah, mentioned in Joshua 15:53 as one of the cities allotted to the tribe of Judah during the settlement of Canaan. Located approximately three and a half miles northwest of Hebron, the site is likely identified with the modern village of Tuffuch, which sits on a high ridge and is surrounded by fertile gardens. Archaeological evidence suggests the ancient settlement featured an important road running through it, along with numerous cisterns and caves that indicate prolonged habitation. While Beth-tappuah appears only once in the biblical record, its strategic location near Hebron and its position along an ancient highway made it a notable settlement in Judah's territorial inheritance.
