Where is Bor-ashan in the Bible?
Bor-ashan was a town located in southern Judah during the time of King David. According to 1 Samuel 30:27, David sent a portion of the spoils from his victory over the Amalekites to the inhabitants of Bor-ashan, making it one of several towns that received a share of the plunder. Scholars generally identify Bor-ashan with the town of Ashan, which appears in Joshua 15:42 and 1 Chronicles 4:32 as a Levitical city in the territory of Judah. This act of David's demonstrated his practice of rewarding and maintaining relationships with communities throughout Judah, which helped build support for his leadership during his time before becoming king.
