Where is Sharuhen in the Bible?
Sharuhen was a town in southern Canaan located in the Negev region, within the territory allotted to the tribe of Simeon as part of Judah's inheritance. The place is mentioned in the Old Testament as Sharuhen in Joshua 19:6, though it also appears under the alternate names Shaaraim and Shilhim in other biblical passages (1 Chronicles 4:31 and Joshua 15:32). As a town assigned to Simeon, Sharuhen formed part of the tribal land distributions recorded in the book of Joshua following the Israelite conquest of Canaan. While little is known about specific events that took place there, its listing among Simeon's cities reflects the organization of the promised land among the twelve tribes of Israel.
