Shaveh light
Shaveh Kiriathaim was a valley where Chedorlaomer and his allies defeated the Emites before battling the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah (Gen. 14:5, 17).
Where is Shaveh in the Bible?
Shaveh was a valley in ancient Canaan, located east of the Jordan River in the region that would become Moab. The valley is best known from Genesis 14, where it appears in the account of Chedorlaomer's military campaign against the cities of the plain. In this passage, Chedorlaomer and his allied kings defeated the Emites in the valley of Shaveh Kiriathaim before proceeding to battle the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah. The exact location of Shaveh remains uncertain, though scholars generally place it in the area of modern Jordan. This valley holds biblical significance as the setting for one of the earliest recorded military conflicts in the Old Testament, occurring during the time of Abraham.
