Where is Shema in the Bible?

Shema was a town located in the Negev region of southern Judah, as documented in the Book of Joshua. The town appears in Joshua 15:26 as part of the list of cities allotted to the tribe of Judah during the division of the Promised Land. While limited biblical references exist about specific events occurring in Shema itself, the town represents one of the numerous settlements that comprised ancient Judah's territorial holdings in the arid Negev region.
