Mark 1:29–34
The compassionate King heals and restores with sovereign authority.

1:29 Immediately, when they had come out of the synagogue, they came into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.
1:30 Now Simon’s wife’s mother lay sick with a fever, and immediately they told Him about her.
1:31 He came and took her by the hand, and raised her up. The fever left her immediately, and she served them.
1:32 At evening, when the sun had set, they brought to Him all who were sick, and those who were possessed by demons.
1:33 All the city was gathered together at the door.
1:34 He healed many who were sick with various diseases, and cast out many demons. He didn’t allow the demons to speak, because they knew Him.

The authority of Christ restores both spiritual bondage and physical weakness.
God's people must not domesticate Jesus into a helper who serves their agenda; they must receive Him as the authoritative Lord who calls, cleanses, commands, and sends.

Mark 1 argues that God's promised saving reign has arrived in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, whose identity is revealed from heaven, whose authority confronts Satan and uncleanness, and whose mission summons repentance, faith, discipleship, and proclamation.
