Son of Gad and founder of the Arodite clan

Who is Arod in the Bible?

Arod was a son of Gad and grandson of Jacob, listed among the 70 members of Jacob's family who descended into Egypt during the famine (Genesis 46:16). He served as the founder of the Arodite clan within the tribe of Gad, and during the wilderness census recorded in Numbers 26:17, his clan numbered 40,500 men of military age. Arod's lineage and the growth of his clan demonstrated God's fulfillment of his covenant promise to Abraham that his descendants would become as numerous as the stars in the sky.
